Peace,
It bears articulating that over it's course,
the nation has been recipient to a plethora of names. The prominence
of "The Nation of Gods and Earths" as the present day ascription,
is historic in its inception. It is also representative of a pivotal
national impasse. Throughout our history few national consensuses have
been achieved. The level of cohesion requisite to an at least reasonable
administering of a consensus of even the simplest form is extremely
rare in our social equality. In example of this, whenever the question
of the universalness of laws among us is put to discussion, although
one or two broad contentions can be made, like for example, it is a
universal law with us that "the nation" doesn't eat swine,
the historic rarity of this advent quickly becomes evident. Lengthy
tenure in this nation will see this reality profoundly reiterated.
From the onset of history immediately following
The Father's return, the charge to plot our nation's course is inherently
upon those who choose to stand responsible to an above average level
of duty. The name of the nation of present, did not just happen upon
us like many of the others that were derived from all manner of sources,
some unflattering. Seldom upon command has the nation been persuaded
to embark a cohesive course in this post Father era. The name, "The
Nation of Gods and Earths", represents such an achievement. We
are The Father now. Again, it just so happens that the name,
"The Nation of Gods and Earths" for many years was not the
commonly used moniker. Until fairly recently, (within approximately
the last 15-20 yrs) among nation members there were multiple variations
on the nomenclature attached to the nation. This condition still persists
somewhat today, although to a not so severe degree.

From the early popularity
of names such as The Five Percenters, The Five Percent Nation, Allah's
Nation, Allah's Nation of the Five Percent, The Five Percent Nation
of Islam, et al., the nation remained in a state of constant flux in
this regard. As with much concerning essential unification issues, the
idea of the commonality of names was just not a priority for the national
intelligentsia and architects of our social equality. The need really
didn't receive urgent status until the historic advent of the nations
entrance into the tabloid media era. During the mid to late 80's, with
the emergence of the nations first true tabloid type newspapers, (THE
WORD and THE FIVE PERCENTER) the opportunity was recognized and seized.
In a deliberate calculation to render public consensus on this critical
component in the unification process, the editors of these tabloids,
at the time (with whom I have extensive history), in concert with their
respective clans, did determine to agitate for, promote, and reinforce
a common consensus on our name, THE NATION OF GODS AND EARTHS. Indeed
only years later by deliberate design and with the approval of the elders
did the father's decree reach its present day prominence; it's status
finally achieved by a conscious, concerted effort. Our history often
transpires to the captive intrigue of a few that are as catalysts. Mainly
though, it occurs under the noses of those many who will see it not
in its unfolding.
